Crossing the Bar By Alfred Lord Tennyson

Crossing the Bar By Alfred Lord Tennyson

Paraphrase of Stanzas

Stanza.1: Lines 1-4

When the sun sets and evening star appears I hear a clear call for my departure. May it a peaceful departure from this world. There will be no sorrowful sound when I leave for my final journey.

Stanza. 2: Lines 5-8

Let this transfer be calm and tranquil. I wish for a wave that moves smoothly and  seems as it asleep. I wish this wave should carry me back to the great ocean from where I originated. I wish I should return to my eternal home.

Stanza. 3: Lines 9-12

When I start my final journey after falling of half light and singing of evening bell, I hope there will be no sorrow or mourning when I set sail for my final journey.

Stanza. 4: Lines 13-16

Though I leave behind the limits of time and place. The waves will carry me far beyond the limits of time and space. At the time of my departure I wish to meet my guide face to face.
